Jaquel is fluent in Spanish and previously taught the language at community colleges, bringing a unique cultural perspective and bilingual expertise to her practice.
Her therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing on evidence-based practices such as the Strength-Based Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the Trauma-Informed Approach, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. Jaquel’s journey into social work was inspired by her time as an interpreter at the Shawnee County Health Agency. While assisting Spanish-speaking individuals during therapy sessions, she felt a deep desire to become a therapist herself, driven by a commitment to serve her community and make a lasting impact.
Jaquel primarily works with teens and adults, fostering a safe, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore personal growth, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to thrive in daily life. Her dedication to her clients is evident in her compassionate and culturally sensitive approach, ensuring each individual feels valued, understood, and equipped to overcome challenges.
